2nd Edition
When is it the wrong time to find Mr. Right? For David, that time is now. He’s caring for his homophobic father, who has Alzheimer’s, and his personal life is the last thing he has time to focus on. But when his father wanders off, David is forced to reach out to the police, in the person of Detective Travis Hart. Travis is gay, tired of the club life and twinks he can’t keep up with, and longs for a real relationship with a man who wants the same—maybe someone remarkable like David. In fact, David is exactly who he has been looking for, but Travis isn’t sure he can be the man David needs during this difficult time.
Because as David’s father sinks deeper into the disease that’s robbing him of his memories, David really needs a friend, not a lover. Though Travis is determined to support David in whatever way he can, David’s decision could lead both men into a situation with no possibility of a happy resolution.

Being a person that looks after their parent I understood what David was going through, and how frustratingly crazy it can make you feel at times that you lose you sense of who you are. David was lucky that he found soulmate in Travis even though it didn't seem like it at first. Travis had his own problems that he had to deal with and I loved his strength as he shouldered not only his problems but helped David when he needed and in return David gave him a sense of worth. This was a beautiful story yet a tale you hope you never have to see first hand. I recommend this book to everyone.Product details

David Dilemma edition by Lynn Lorenz Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
David’s father David Senior has Alzheimer’s but David has made a promise that he would keep his father with him as long as he can. Unfortunately, David Senior is deteriorating faster than David is comfortable with. One night David returns home from work to discover his father is missing. At the police station David talks to a Detective Travis Hart.
Travis has recently come to terms with the fact that he’s getting older, not old! just older and he can’t keep up with the young twinks like he used to. He’s just dumped his “boyfriend” Billy when he caught him cheating, twice. When a man comes in to report his father missing everything seems to go haywire and he starts flirting with him but he’s not sure why, it’s all very confusing. Good lord, Travis feels like he’s going crazy! Neither one of them are ready for anything to happen especially not David. About the only thing, David feels ready for is a friend, someone he can talk to and possibly lean on.
David Senior is very confused. He wakes up every morning and everything’s different, things have been moved around in his kitchen, the walls are a different color and he can’t find his wife. Not only that but there’s a stranger who comes in every day and starts talking to him like David Senior should know who he is. So, one day David Senior goes shopping and finds a nice little hand gun that he can hide in his top draw.
Everything in David’s life is going haywire, every day his father’s condition deteriorates even further but he’s determined not to put him in care. The only bright spot on his radar is Travis, they’ve been spending as much time together as they can and besides his father everything seems to be going very well indeed, so well in fact that David knows there has to be a big fall coming. The fall comes when the housekeeper/carer David hired for David Senior calls him at work; his father has had a complete break with reality! David’s life completely falls apart now and he’s only thankful that he’s got Travis to lean on.
David’s Dilemma is an emotional rollercoaster of a book. If you like to have a cry with your reading, then this is the book for you!! This is the first of Lynn Lorenz’s books I’ve read but it certainly won’t be the last!

David's Dilemma is a beautiful story about a man that needs to make heartbreaking choices. It is a relevant story based on the real-life situation of the pain in dealing with an aging parent diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. It is also about how you can find love in the most unlikely of situations. Yes, this story can be a little depressing, but it is also uplifting. The plot of this story has David caring for his homophobic father who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. When David comes home from work and finds his father missing he goes to the police station to get help in the search. Detective Travis Hart sees how anxious David is and aids David in the search for David’s father. Sensing that David may need a distraction in his life, Travis asks David out on a date. David is flattered, but with his situation, with his father, he feels that he doesn’t have time in his life for a relationship. Not to be discouraged, Travis decides that they should become friends. Take things slowly. Both men are at a point in their lives where they long for companionship. The chemistry between David and Travis is a slow sizzle. After hours of phone conversations and some heated phone sex, David decides that maybe he could have something more in his life. There is a definite connection between these two characters. I loved the pacing of this story. It starts out frantic then slows down to a comfortable pace building to an exciting conclusion. The ending is expected, but it could have played out so many ways. There is strong character development in this story. I felt for these characters in their struggle to do what was right. I highly recommend this story, but suggest that you have something light and funny on hand to read after you finish this book.

This book had great blurb and actually a likable lead in David, whose father had Alzheimers. But, the cop, Travis, who made a move on the former, only hours after he helped David find his missing dad, came across as a little desperate. I'm all for instalust in a book, but this had instalove, with the guys meeting each other, agreeing to be friends (not to take things slow and see if friendship was on the cards) but the next minute calling each other babe and honey and declaring love. TBH, this came across as faux and more than a little LOL, but not in a funny way.
The tale was rushed and whilst in parts it was realistic about Alzheimers (my hubby is a mental health nurse and I have a good idea of the condition), it focused on an amount of bigotry that was upsetting in this day and age, though I am aware that the father was living in the past.
And, the cop lead wasn't believable and the tale was rushed and unrealistic, such as the father ending up in a residential home, which his son didn't choose or have any discussion about (though the latter was the next of kin), and the tale ending there with the leads supposedly together. No discussion about the dad, about the future, about what they want out of their relationship.
Unfortunately, this one isn't a Keeper.
